As an olympian and daughter of a dentist, I know the importance of healthy teeth and a bright healthy smile. My Dad taught me a healthy smile is something that you can have for a lifetime, and dental disease is preventable. And as a mon, I know the importance of taking my child to the dentist as soon as their first teeth appear. Research shows there is a connection between dental health and overall health. Tooth decay is the No.1 childhood disease more than asthma and obesity. Dental pain can prevent children from learning and being able to eat properly, smile and feel good about themselves. A new state law requires that kindergarteners recieve a dental checkup. Dental checkups can help identify problems early, teach healthy dental habits and prevent cavities. So parents, take you child to see a dentist. It'll make you smile too.
