Massive protest in South Korea。Nearly 15,000 people fired up after the government lifted a ban on US beef imports. The ban had been in effect for the past five years after the first reports of mad cow disease in the US. More than a hundred police were injured, 50 protesters arrested in the melee.

They set up a camera to catch the culprit and recognized the feces tosser was their own neighbor. Apparently he'd been chucking bags all over the town. Now everyone knows what a crappy guy he is.
No, it's not half a man. That's a drunk chump stuck in a twelve inch hole in the UK. He said he jumped in to retrieve a lighter he dropped in the hole and got stuck. He spent next two hours in the hole after numerous failed attempts to yank him out. Firefighters finally tied a rope around him and pulled the dumb ass to safety.
melee=「乱闘」は、以前聞いたことがあったのですが、すっかり忘れていて、必死になって辞書で malay とかを調べてしまいました・・・。chuck=「投げ捨てる」は、少し前に何かのときにチェックしたので、わりと記憶に新しかったです。chump は、「まぬけ」だそうです。以下、コウビルド英英辞典から引用します。
A melee is a noisy confusing fight between the people in a crowd.
When you chuck something somewhere, you throw it there in a casual or careless way.
If you call someone who you like a chump, you are telling them that they have done something rather stupid or foolish, or that they are always doing stupid things.
この説明を読むと、chump は、好きな相手に対して言う「ばか」や「まぬけ」ですね。大阪弁の「あほ」は、このニュアンスの場合が結構多いと思います。

←こちらも応援お願いします！鳥は、実際に見たことがないものでも、動物もののテレビ番組などで見て、いつの間にか、だいたいどんな鳥なのかを知っているというものが結構あります。でも、いろんな鳥の名前を英語でどう呼ぶのかを知り始めたのは、個人的には、ここ数年のことです。
たとえば、cormorant、magpie、stork、snipe、vulture、quail、albatross、pheasant などが思い浮かびます。
このリストに最近加わったのが、以下の2つです。
A kingfisher is a brightly-colored bird wich lives near rivers and lakes and catches fish. （コウビルド英英辞典より）
これだけだと、特定情報が少なくてわかりにくいですが、kingfisher とは「カワセミ」のことだそうです。「クチバシ（beak）が長い」あたりの説明もあって良さそうなものですが・・・。
A humming bird is a small brightly colored bird found in America, especially Central and South America. It has a long thin beak and powerful wings that can move very fast.
これは、「ハチドリ」です。とても小さくて、素早く羽ばたきながら空中で静止して、花の蜜を吸ったりするんでしたっけ？羽ばたきの音が hummingする＝「ブンブンと鳴る」から、そう言うのだと思います。

そうそう。エッ○、スケッチ、ワンタッチは、私も小学生ぐらいの頃、よく言ってました。だいぶん古いので、最近の子どもは、あまり言わないかもしれませんねApplecheeseスケッチースケッチはそんな意味だったとは知りませんでした。
